It's amazing when you remember something from a book correctly

I first read George Orwell's Down and Out in Paris and London in my early twenties. The thing I remembered most about it is what he said about waiters. I picked up a second-hand copy this week, largely to check I'd remembered it correctly. Amazingly, it fell open at the page.

Amazing and brilliant. Apart from the obvious bits of Animal Farm and 1984 that's the only bit of Orwell I can remember and quote at every opportunity.

  2. Just recently re-read couple of volumes of Orwell's Essays, Journalism and Letters. Great stuff but seem sadly out of print in UK. I picked up editions published in Canada via Amazon which seems odd.

  3. Your peddling of anti-waiter propaganda hasn't gone unnoticed..."Cry havoc and let slip the soup bowls of war"
