And the point is?

In the same week that Vanity Fair publish their portfolio of pictures in which people like Keira Knightley, Gwyneth Paltrow and Renee Zellweger repeat the poses of stars like Grace Kelly in classic stills from Hitchcock movies, Lindsay Lohan decides she's going to channel the spirit of Marilyn Monroe by repeating her last session with original photographer Bert Stern.

Which makes you think two things:
1. How insecure must these actors be that they need to dress up as stars of an earlier era?
2. Could you make an actual film for the price of the catering bill for these sessions?

  1. 1. Very, though i'm sure the fee helped persuade them

    2. Several, though they may not be any good.

Catering bill? For Keira Coatrack and Gwyneth Willow?

  3. In my experience there's no fee for anything like that. Magazines couldn't afford to pay their going rate.

  4. Lindsay Lohan is not an unattractive woman, and yet in those photos they have managed to make her look it.... she looks oddly lumpy, and is oozing none of the bruised, vulnerable sex appeal of Monroe herself in the originals.

    The Hitchcock pictures? Meh. Why?

I actually think there's something quite fascinating in seeing contemporary faces lit and photographed in the style of old Hollywood. Not so much the awkward Monroe pastiche, but a few of the Hitchcock shots are intriguing.
