"Do you want a biscuit?"
This is an excellent programme about the relationship between age and creativity made for National Public Radio in the States. It features Nick Lowe whose new album is called "At My Age". And, via a tinny phone line, me.
I haven't listened to the programme, but if I understand your question, Nick Lowe made a lot of money because Curtis Stigers' version of "What's so funny about peace, love and understanding" is on the soundtrack album for The Bodyguard, which apparently sold 15 million copies or something like that. Don't know if he is actually a millionaire.
Lovely piece of radio. I've been telling that Nick Lowe millionaire story for so long I began to wonder if I was making it up – glad to have it corroborated. Just one thing though, I know I've spent far too many years standing next to loudspeakers and my hearing isn't what it was (at my age...) but doesn't the presenter introduce him as "Dick Lowe"?
Forgive my ignorance. Which was the song, and what was the movie ? And is he really a millionaire ? I do hope so.

ReplyDeleteI love that Nick Lowe album. And I must thank The Word for that.
ReplyDeleteI with five-centres, cheers for pointing me towards one of the albums of the year which I would otherwise have missed.
