I may well be wrong, but if you looked at UK advertising at that time, it wouldn't be in the same style. The US seemed to hang onto the 50/60s illustration style longer and I guess NY was always a special case with the power of the major stores (and press advertising's control of the page layout, which has only really happened in the UK in the last few years)
